Jane Francis is a Victoria-based artist whose current work explores the forces of nature in large-scale format and immediate marks, using painting and drawing to analyze the ways things grow.
Jane began her studies at the Central Technical School Art Centre (1972) in Toronto and continued on to Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario (1976) to focus on graphic design. For over a decade she has been studying under some of the most accomplished art educators in Victoria. In 2015 after a successful career as an art director and graphic designer, Jane began devoting her time fully to her art practice. She has participated in the Studio Residency program (2014, 2016, 2018) at the Metchosin International School of the Arts, the Painting Studio: Personal Projects at the Visual Arts Centre in Montréal (2018) and completed the Independent Studies Program (2016) at the Vancouver Island School of Art.
